The screen interface between technician and wind turbine is a special relationship and these components see a lot of vented frustration, oily hands and verbal abuse.

Tips for repairing
Nothing dates hardware like the HMI (watch any James Bond from the 80s) and this is typically indicative of the availability of spare parts or replacements. Catching failures earlier and noting the failure mode on a postit makes for easier troubleshooting and higher success rates.
L&B Controller Repair
For particular wind turbines (GE1.5 and MM82) such as those that utilise L&B controllers there are a few options when it comes to repair and refurbishment. There can be challenges with version control as well as obtaining legacy parts surrounding the GEL models. Windy Productions can offer version copy from donor parts to refurbished units that will be compatible. This allows operators to grow their repairs pool of components and better manage spares.
Legacy support
We can offer repairs and refurbishment where possible and we see a huge variety of screens from wind turbines new and old. We can offer a 12 month warranty and test report on the work performed to provide peace of mind that when you install the screen back into the wind turbine that it will perform as intended.
Testing
We will test for power, replace wearing components and can look to upgrade to backlit LED. A test report is provided with each repair. Typically we test inputs and outputs to 24 and 5V, encoders, function, comms to PC and backlight display.
